Throughout history, determined women have repeatedly been ahead of their time, opening new paths with vision and courage. Madame Clicquot was one of them: only a few years after taking over the house in 1805, she revolutionized the champagne industry. She broke with the conventions of her era, developed new techniques, and became one of the first women entrepreneurs of the modern age. Known as "La Grande Dame de la Champagne", her free and bold spirit continues to inspire the house today.
Or are they the same thing? For Hans Fischer, definitely not: “The difference between craft and art is a quantum leap in exposure,” he says. “As an artist, you expose yourself much more.” Yet for him, this distinction carries no value judgment.
Located on the French Riviera, the commune of Vallauris has a long tradition of pottery due to its clay-rich soil. Initially known for producing functional ceramics, the city saw the emergence of a traditional production of art ceramics at the end of the 19th century. The port city reached its peak when Picasso decided to devote himself to ceramics in 1948, which opened up a new creative perspective for him and attracted a worldwide audience.
“Beauty has an incredible power,” explains Austrian star designer Stefan Sagmeister, who lives in New York and has devoted himself intensively to the subject for years out of a conviction in its positive effects. He offers a new view of the value of aesthetics and its function.
